Medicare EFPOS swipe card starting July 2007
I spoke with Mr. John Howard on 774 ABC Melbourne 7/3/2007 asking the prime minister why he feels giving $42 million each year to the banks is better than doctors doing this for free as we could already do with current technology. He was unable to answer and sounded embarrassed by my question. I have also managed to get the issue raised in the senate estimates committee which has confirmed that at least 42 million per year is forecast by the government to be paid to the banks. (See Page 60 of http://www.aph.gov.au/hansard/senate/commttee/S10037.pdf SENATE STANDING COMMITTEE ON FINANCE AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION Friday, 16 February 2007) Doctor can Gap bill for free right now with only a small change in government regulations. Giving $42 million to the banks each year is a horrible waste of money when doctors can do this for free. Today I paid for my 8 week old baby to have a RotaTeq vaccine which will prevent her get most common forms of GASTRO. 95% of children under five will get this and many will require hospitalization. Almost all children with gastro will be in significant pain and discomfort almost all of which can be avoided by a simple vaccine. All children should have this not just those with family with deeper pockets, if the RotaTeq vaccine was on the childhood immunization register it would cost under 32 million per year or less! The government has important initiatives like this which urgently require funding. How can the government give bucket loads of money to the banks and overlook urgently required initiatives? Free gap billing or $42 million to the bank for what is effectively exactly the same thing. What is the government doing? I have about 20,000 signatures on a petition to give to the prime minister or Tony Abbot when I can catch up with them next. Your helps is needed to avoid this mistake and waste of your money occurring. Regards James Bishop Longevity Medical Doncaster East Vic
