The newest version allows you to do a single-click installation of Virtualbox 
onto current versions of Ubuntu (eg Eft), yet another open sourced 
virtualization program. And yes, it does run XP and definitely Vista too, 
with minimal performance penalties. I even allows remote USB access from 
virtual guest systems. Works fine (though I haven't tested it with Vista, 
haven't got it and see no point whatsoever in even looking at it)
