James Ask your accountant about MYOB. You wouldn't want to use them for a medical record system either. In a nutshell: 3 years ago MYOB did a dirty on accountants. Up to then the licence the accountants had, allowed them to easily access their clients data. Then MYOB had an upgrade. With this Upgrade the Accountants also had to upgrade, but this upgrade severely restricted the accountants in accessing clients data unless they paid much higher subsciption rates.
So I would not ask MYOB to have a go if I was you. Encryption by MD3, Profile or others is inexcusable if you do not hold the keys or you are unable to readily and easily export to a text based format! Consider Quick book MYOB low level commercial accounting software. You can pick the best product for year to year with little or no risk of being stuck with a second rate product. The inability to export and import your private copyright material - medical records should be a key reason to 'dump' any software that is forcing this on you. I know the ridiculously (stupidly) high number of medical software providers in Australia will not last if a competent and effective package is developed which has the required level of customer support. I wonder if quicken or MYOB would have a go? If this forum has be talking about this since 1998 I think it may be part of the problem?
