Dear All, Assuming that the message generators (Path, DI, AHS etc) receive ACKs from GP software, I am interested to hear views on what the process around responding to the non acknowledged messages might look like (e.g at the Pathology Lab end). Given that Surgeries close from time to time and servers may be turned off, GPs may be on leave and not clear their holding area etc. So how long would Path companies wait until they contacted the surgery in response to non acknowledged messages? Would the Path providers rank their tests by importance (a sort of non-ACK retention time before action protocol)? What would the action be? Would the system generate a hard copy report to be posted thus discharging the companies responsibility? Even if this did happen would the GP still get to see the result?
