An article comparing Argus Connect with the open source and very polished Mirth HL7 interface/secure messaging engine would be interesting: http://www.mirthproject.org/ Mirth seems to be able to do a lot out of the box, including directly accessing database back-ends, but additional plug-in filtering scripts can be written in Java, JavaScript of Python. I doubt anyone has ever tried it with any Australian clinical information systems, so such an article would be a first.
