[I thought that's what GP's computerised current medication lists and hospital electronic discharge summaries were meant to do!]

INVITATION “PATIENT MEDICATION PROFILING” PROGRAM
SOFTWARE VENDOR WORKSHOP

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia extends an invitation to Dispense and
DAA software vendors plus other interested stakeholders to attend a
workshop in Canberra on 7th August 2007.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for the Guild to brief vendors
on the Patient Medication Profiling Program, which is funded by the
Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing under the 4th
Community Pharmacy Agreement.

It is hoped that the workshop will determine the capability of vendors
to provide supporting software to pharmacies participating in the Program.

Further details may be obtained at www.guild.org.au. RSVP 3rd August 2007.

The patient medication profiles will include all:

# regular prescription medicines (including regular “when necessary” medications);

# regular over-the-counter medicines; and

# regular complementary medicines.

It is likely that participating pharmacies will receive a subsidy of up to approximately $2,300 per annum (pro-rata)

Pharmacies must charge patients a set fee of $5 per annum for each original profile provided.

Pharmacies will be required to provide any updates for changes to regular medications free of charge for the remainder of the year.

Changes to a patient’s medication regimen should prompt an update of the profile. However, the addition of short term courses of medications (eg antibiotics, cold and flu tablets) need not require profile updates.
