Then what is the purpose of posting those commands in the wiki?

I am a less than average user, and my non-tech friends are less than
average users too. But I don't like to be fed ready-made food without
knowing what's in it. I don't need to be a chef to understand about
basic ingredients and how they mix together.

I hadn't the foggiest notion of Unix when I started using MacOSX 10.1,
and I still have a very foggy notion, but at least a notion, because I
made an effort to learn, by asking experienced users, and by looking for
information on-line.

"Considering the people around me"?
I am reluctant to understand: you *seem* to have a poor opinion of
people around you.

There is a reasonable, attainable and executable middle of the way
approach between having a basic understanding of Unix commands, and
being a full fledged developer.

It is not "nothing" or "all".

Nothing wrong, except that according to what you indicated, "the
immediate reaction would be they are not going to be a user etc...".

Since they are posted in the wiki, and I believe it is a good
initiative, they should at least excite the curiosity of the users who
read them.

Thank you for your permission.

I do not consider that trying to understand what one is doing is going
crazy. But have it your own way :-)

Did it occur to you to ask her?
If you do, you could be pleasantly surprised.
Never underestimate the common sense and the natural curiosity of even
the most basic user.
