My Linux native GPG does this fine.

The gpg command line shows the subkey, but GPG keychain does not.

jeff-brontes-macbook-pro:~ Jeff$ gpg --list-secret-keys
/Users/Jeff/.gnupg/secring.gpg
------------------------------
sec 2048R/BA5E448B 2005-09-21
uid Jeff Bronte <jeff.bro...@earthlink.net>
uid Jeff Bronte <jbro...@verimatrix.com>
uid Jeff Bronte <jeff.bro...@gmail.com>
ssb 2048R/4953CF6D 2005-09-21

Decrypting content from the command line does not work if the content is
encrypted with the subkey.

FYI,

Jeff
