I think this is too complicated to most users. I'd prefer a simple tab that
does "the right thing" most of the time. Mixing searches with channels can lead
to user confusion. Better implement the "Unwatched stuff" tab and improve
things from there (i.e. add searching there, etc...)

As I said above, probably not in the first version of this feature. Implement
something simple and usable and then improve from there - you'll also have the
added benefit of getting some user feedback for the simple version which might
give you new ideas for the "advanced" featureset.

A patch adding the "unwatched stuff" tab as described in this bug would be
really awesome! if you have any questions, feel free to join #gpodder on
