Summary: Virtual feeds for including old or archived episodes
           Product: gPodder
           Version: 2.2
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: feature request
          Priority: low
         Component: Application
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

A common problem I have is needing to download an old episode that is not
available in the feed--feeds usually comprise only 5-10 episodes. So I have to
leave gPodder, go to the podcast's webpage, poke around, and download the
archived podcasts. It's not only a pain doing this, but then gPodder is not
managing these old episodes.

It would be great if there was some way to merge in the archived episodes from
the web with the feed. That is, provide some sort of virtual feed that is
composed of the actual feed and some layer to access the podcast's web
archives.

Maybe this could be implemented through a plug-in? Or maybe there is already a
way to do it that I am missing?

[I realize providing programmatic access to archived, non-feed episodes may not
be well behaved, but is it any worse than going to the web site manually and
downloading the episodes?]
