gPodder forgets all state associated with a podcast item (i.e., “seen,”
“deleted”) once that item disappears from the podcast's RSS feed (unless it has
been downloaded and not yet deleted). Should that item reappear in the RSS
feed, the item will again be reported as “new.” This is annoying, but
unfortunately happens regularly with flaky RSS feeds (such as feeds dynamically
generated from databases or with a service such as Yahoo Pipes).
I suggest to remember disappearing items for a configurable length of time, say
for 30 days after is has last been seen on the feed. gPodder already does this
for items that have been downloaded and not yet deleted, so this new behavior
should be trivial to add.
