I think that this is exactly the desired behavior. A user doesn't care which
device the episode was listened to on, only that it's been listened too. If the
user wants certain episodes not to be deleted from certain devices, then either
locking can be used, or else no auto-deletion --- both of which are per-device,
non-synced settings (and should remain so for precisely this reason).

More importantly in this context, though, note that my patch doesn't change the
"problem" you're describing in any way (i.e., I don't think there's any
situation where an episode which previous to this patch would not have been
deleted, will now be deleted because of this patch): currently, just the fact
that the episode was *played* (which is synced, and which is set as soon as
playback starts) would be enough to have it removed from other devices.
