At what point should I be running ifstat. Should I be doing something at the 
server.
Please excuse the Newbish questions

Just running ifstat shows the received packets go up by a few every third try 
or so

Thanks.  It looks as though gPXE simply isn't receiving any packets from your
Win2k8 server.  Try using the "ifstat" command in gPXE to count received
packets: see if they increase at a rate (approximately) matching the rate of
transmitted packets shown in wireshark.  This will let us know whether or not
the packets are reaching gPXE at all.
