#73: r.out.gdal tiff output does not work --------------------------+------------------------------------------------- Reporter: helena | Owner: grass-dev@lists.osgeo.org Type: defect | Status: new Priority: critical | Milestone: 6.4.0 Component: Raster | Version: svn-trunk Resolution: | Keywords: r.out.gdal, tiff Platform: Unspecified | Cpu: Unspecified --------------------------+------------------------------------------------- Comment (by mmetz):
Replying to [comment:33 mlennert]: > From the discussion, I gather that most of the problem is not a bug in r.out.gdal, but rather the incapacity of certain viewers to display certain types of data. Yes, that's one problem, but a problem of the viewers. Standard image viewers or editors like GIMP can only read type BYTE, and probably only 1 band or 3 bands in e.g. a tiff. Other types (e.g. INT16, FLOAT32) are not supported by these image viewers. Not sure about the number of bands. GIS software can usually both read, analyse, and visualize georeferenced raster data as produced by r.out.gdal. The tiff colortable problem is already solved.
