I have tried with this dataset (converted to SHAPE):
http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps
/data/soil-type and do not manage to reproject it correctly to, say, EPSG
3035 (EU-LAEA)
using the indicated custom sphere with a 6378388 radius.
