A nabble forum is able to send messages to the mailing list directly if you are registered in the list. It would be only another interface to it and no extra forum. The messages from nabble will be accepted only if you are a registered member of the mailing list. An example is the r-sig-ecology list. http://n2.nabble.com/r-sig-ecology-f471788.html I use several mailing lists that way and it gives me a nice interface for posting messages to the list and an easy access to the history.
