How about a Non-Modal, Pop Up with "Entity Info" about the currently
selected object. OS X can do this (I think I've seen something like it
on Windoz as well) The Panel could expose all the settings currently
accessed though right clicking (Which, I admit, causes me frustration)
This panel could appear in the upper right hand corner (which the user
could change) or with an offset to the current selection (which would
make it appear as if it were on the stage) Here is a screen grab of
the behaviour I'm referring to from OS X.
