I think the post title should say 'unofficial forum'. It may be confusing since it's been said that there is a plan to switch the official forum to another system some time in the future.
The google groups system has several shortcomings. If this was a very active forum, it would be wise to create an alternative 'unofficial' forum that competes withe the official one in terms of better features, etc. But since this forum has very little activity and this proposed alternative uses exactly the same system, i don't see any point in it at the moment.
