Just an FYI, pressing the "Alt" key will toggle the menu bar when you need it, just like in Windows itself. You don't need to permanently enable it unless you want to.
Also, the Greasemonkey icon you're speaking of that used to be in the status bar will be located in the status bar shim (until the version with the toolbar button is released). This shim is located in the add- ons bar, which can be toggled with Ctrl+/ or enabled by right clicking a toolbar and selecting "Add-on Bar."
