Which script? All you need is 1) Serve from HTTPS (or turn off require secure updates; but don't do that it's a bad idea) and 2) Have a @version which is higher at the original download URL than in your installed copy.
The options have indeed changed to be simplified since the original version in that screenshot, that's expected.
