hi,
let's look at this your way.
and how the hell can someone even think abt giving the responsibility of a democratic nation to certain peopl just because they had enough money to do an MBA?
similarly , just how the hell can we give responsiblity to criminals and goondas to lead a democratic nation?? Yes we call ourselves the biggest democracy in the world. How democratic are we? Are we really using even an iota of the democratic powers that are entitled to us?? Are the people we are supposedly electing, true representatives of our problems?? Do they really care about it? No!!! when they get elected, they know, they are going to survive a 5 yr term. There is no pressure on them to work, you see!!! Only pressure on them is from the opposition, and they are busy hiding and taking care of scandals and making up other goofy mistakes they do.
Let's not look at specific examples. Take a human being. Let him live in the forest. no education, no socialising with the right kind of ppl, and put the same guy in a society, educate him, teach him moral values, what is right and what is wrong. Who will be the better person??
Agreed, today even the very literate are corrupt. even doctors and engineers sabotage lives to get money. Greed is the basic of human emotions, it the basis of all this trauma. power and greed for power overrides subtler feelings of companionship, brotherhood and nationality. It is ok, even kind of bearable if only a few ppl are corrupt. There are always going to be some, we can't change that. I myself might need to bribe a person for some grave reason. Human mind searches for simpler solutions, overriding logic. but, that;s not the point. If among twenty doctors, 1 is corrupt. That is acceptable. If among 20, 19 are corrupt, something needs to be done to change it. What and how, that is debatable.
I'll give you a comparison. We adopted our democracy from England. How many times have you heard of staging out by opposition parties in england. How many times have you heard of chairs being broken and disrupt in the parliment of england. NEVER in my 19 yrs of existence. Why is that our so-called democracy, so prominent with in-fighting. I'll tell you the reason. THe ppl in the English parliment are LITERATE. ppl in our parliment are MAFIA GOONDAS. Is my point clear to ppl?
what I want is this. Do ppl agree that literate ppl are more sane than illeterate ppl?? Is it not true that the thought process of a educated human being is more structured and logical?? Education certainly makes a man more capable of handling problems when he faces it. In a LOGICAL manner
dont know why people are coming forward with such short cuts as a solution(?)
SHORTCUT??!! This is nothing but a shortcut. This is meant to be a revolution. Try passing a bill that will not allow criminal ppl to stand for elections. The whole political fraternity will reject it. Yet, we ppl, who are the heart of democracy, whom the system is supposed to work for, want that very thing!!! We want good ppl leading us, forget leading us, representing us. Let not the country go forward, atleast don't hold it from going forward!!!! or worse, don't take it backward!!!
oh, i'll tell you, some of the dumbest people i have ever met are from the HR dept of MNC's, all 'great' MBA s.
Yes, some of the brightest thinkers are MBA's too!!! The dumb MBA's will always be there. But get the good ones aunty. someone who knows logic and economics. Someone who understands country and world economics. The fact that he has undergone basic education will make him aware of problems in life. Poverty and unemplyment, problems he has faced in life. He has been told in 7th standard somewhere, our country has such a political structure. so many villages are wiithout basic amenities. So many ppl are undeucated or unemployed. HE knows the strengths and weaknesses of the country. Given proper resources and channels he is infinitely better suited to manage the country than these mafiosos. Catch hold of Laloo prasad yadav and ask him something about world economics. He'll puke on hearing the words!!!
I agree that putting a qualification on the job, overrides principle of democracy itself, that every person is equal and needs to be given a fair chance. You know what the qualification for a Indian president is???
1. He should be minimum so many years of age (*)
2. He should not be mentally retarded.
Hell, that could be anyone. I find a beggar who matches the criteria, back him with all the mafia manpower that i have and file a ballot paper. You have to elect him!!!! That is exactly what we are doing!! We are electing beggars. illeterate, uncharacterestic, not at all suited for the job, BEGGARS.
(*) Ppl argue that the age criteria is meant for experience in life. Person of that age is suited to make decisions. Hell. Take the beggar. Will you agree to his decisions. All I see is a country going to ruins and there is not a thing we can do about it!!
Hell, I can think of stuff to add to that list. The person needs to know about his job. He needs to know the political structure. He needs to know manners!! He needs to know peer negotiation. He needs to know Leadership qualities. He needs to know to manage people. He needs to know Problem Analysis, from both sides of the problem. He needs to have a vision for a country. Most of All, He needs to think about the good of the country.
Think of the country as a company. the citizens as the ppl to be seviced, the customers. Think of the leader as the manager of the company. It is his skill that co-ordinates matters, that satisfies clients and moves the company forward. He identifies the skilled ppl in his company and gives them due responsiblities. He analyses, thinks and acts for the good of the company. His personal life is different. The company is his job. similarly think of prime-ministership as a JOB. There is a clear correlation.
If you can't do it, you are fired. The power for which shold rest with us, ppl who are eventually affected. if we want to fire a government, we need to go through 20 different rules ,loopholes in which are clearly evident. Moreover, a similar government comes to power.
We need RADICAL development. It is about time. We are too passive about this thing. We need a revolution. Why can't we have qualifications for the job?? england, considered a democracy did'nt give women the right to vote until some 80-90 yrs ago. Bending the rules of democracy is justified, if it has a profound improvement on the lives of ppl.
do your creative part as a responsible citizen.and persuade others too
That i will endeavor to do. I will be as true to my country as anyone can be. But we have to fight the ppl who don't let you do it, right??
I am not suggesting that this solution will work best, but atleast it is something of a solution rather than being a passive audience.
Pl excuse me if i have been rude, or used inappropriate language,
Anand.
