Reservation issue: Delhi govt files affidavit
NDTV Correspondent Thursday, October 12, 2006 (New Delhi):
It was as recent as July that the Delhi administration had directed
private schools to reserve 25 per cent of seats to the poor students in
the neighbourhood. However, the Delhi government on Thursday filed an affidavit in the High Court stating that only those private schools, which have acquired land on concessional government, rates will give 20 per cent quota to the poor. This means that 1200 schools now are no longer bound to give admission to the poor and only 361 schools will now have to provide quota and that too only 20 per cent of their seats. |
