Survey: CSE looking for student volunteers to monitor NREGA

CSE is looking for university students from backward districts of India
to participate in a survey, which will monitor the development
effectiveness of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA).

Duration: mid-May to mid-June, 2007

Highlights of the survey:
- Monitoring will be done in 10 states, 10 districts, 20 development
blocks and 160 villages across the country
- Students will be trained in the evaluation process by CSE staff,
university teachers and experts
- Students will act as catalysts in the development of their regions
- They will understand linkages between the economy and the environment
- Results will be disseminated across India and used for advocacy campaigns

To join the CSE student volunteer programme, you need to:
- Spare 20 days during the summer vacation: four days for training and
16 days for the field survey
- Have an aptitude for development issues

Note:
- Volunteers will be awarded a certificate of participation
- CSE will take care of travel and lodging during training and field
surveys
- All volunteers will be paid a token honorarium for the same period
