His earlier film on caste, "Lesser Humans" is internationally acclaimed for bringing the issue of Untouchability into public discourse. India Untouched is his 14th film so far. Synopsis: India Untouched will make it impossible for anyone in India to deny that Untouchablity is still practised today. Director Stalin K. and his team spent four years travelling the length and breadth of India to bear witness to the continued exclusion and segregation of those considered as 'untouchables'. Accepted wisdom holds that caste only exists in 'backward' rural areas, but this film exposes caste discrimination across all sections of societies-within the urban middle class, poor and prosperous villages, the communists in Kerala, other religious groups such as Sikhs, Christians and Muslims, and within some of India's most revered academic and professional institutions. In an age where the media projects only one image of a 'rising' or 'poised' India, this film reminds us how far the country is from being an equal society.
