Vvahh vahh! this is exactly the the kind of concern our sakshara keralam sundarakeralam in general, has with 'peedanam' . you cannot always be 'decent' while you are tired of this kind of culture talk, which unfailingly despise the victim women / poor people / the working class on the one hand, and glorify tharavaditham/shaleenatha/kuleenatha/kulamahima on the other. Despite this self explanatory and representative article of Dr.K. Velayudhan Nair, one could still show an innocent face and ask: Why do you want to blame Sugathakumari for this, rather than Velayudhan Nair ,or even Mathrubhumi , for publishing this trash ? Better not to blame particularly anybody, until we recognize that this is our general pattern of defending the culture and perhaps, the ecosystem as such. Further, this undoubtedly rooted in brahmanical (male-upper caste supremacist) ideology though, continues to be reigning here unchallenged by the leftists and feminists of Kerala at least to a certain extent. For many a campaigner on the ecological front, the real lives of those men and women (for whom it is not certain whether they would earn bread for the day) matter very little vis a vis larger issues of disappearance of a mountainous rock, chocking of a river, etc. This kind of callousness and denial of dignity for the living humans by people who clamour for future generations was, what I understand the main reason that provoked Ranjit to raise 'ungentlemanly' questions against Sugathakumari and her apologists.
