Indian left is incapable of protesting against these kind of issues or may be they are intentionally keeping quiet. The suppression against women is more predominant among Hindus than any other religion.
Khuran is more of straightforward in imposing its belief systems but Hindu ideologies creates both psychological and physical threat especially against women . One RSS fellow told me that Hinduism gives more freedom to women than Islam . This is not true . it is just like asking a person to chose one colour from red, white and green when the favourite colour of that person is blue. One of the Hindu text books advises that " approach your wife only for reproduction-not for sexual pleasure." Also one Hindu Saint asserts that he slept with his wife only thrice in his life time . In india, especially among Hindus , people are mainly getting married to enjoy sex . Because premarried sex is considered to be sin . And your comments about Hindu women being used for propogating its idelogies by Sang parivar is cent percent true. As you know, when Khushbu, a Tamil actress said something about supporting premarried sex, Sangaparivar and RSS used Tamil Women against in attacking Khushbu. These fundamentailsts also teach in temples and mosques that doing masturbation results in mental retardation . After all trancsending this authoritarian thinking becomes difficult in many youths and results in years of mental conflict . One muslim friend advised me against talking to girls . He asked me , if people look at your mother and sister , what will be your reaction? People like him has created a kind of mental framework in which he feels that it is his responsibilty to protect the virginity of his sister . This feeling from his unconcious mind resists him against approaching women in general.
