>As you know, when Khushbu, a Tamil actress said something about supporting
premarried sex, Sangaparivar and RSS used Tamil Women against in attacking
Khushbu.

Interestingly, it was not the Sangh Parivar that was in the forefront of the
anti-Khushbu agitation: it was the anti-Brahmin, 'rationalist' (though there
is nothing remotely rational about their ideology) 'dravidian' parties,
supported by at least on Dalit party that burned Khushbu's effigies and
carried out broom-wielding demonstrations. In other words, there is nothing
much that differentiates the Shiv Sena, the 'dravidians' and the Dalit
parties when it comes to questions of "morality".

Whatever be their other faults, this is the only area where the mainstream
Indian left has shown at least some progressive tendencies.

Best regards,
Murali.
