I wonder whether this should be the line of thought to talk of sexuality in Kerala today. Do we consider Bible, Manusmrithi, Khuran for all aspects of our lives? Or do we need sanctions from these books to conduct our lives? If these books donot talk about certain things, should we consider them as wrong? Is pederasty equevalent to homosexuality and modern 'gay' identity? Atleast in my understanding pederasty is between an older person and a young boy, and it is not very much in comparison to a modern sexual identity. The problem here is that we are assuming that the Greeks had similar notions of sexuality. Is that the case? They may have had same sex behavior, but is it Also why the homosexual characters get killed in Malayalam literature? Cant Chullikkadu's hero live as a Malayali homosexual? Probably as a kottayam, Nasrani homosexual, or a pathanamthitta muslim one, or a dalit payyannur homosexual.. Why is it demonised, immortalised as an impossibility?
