Mr. Hayat of Bunkar Dastakar Adhikar Manch informs that Anganwadi worker cannot came on same day after getting information as weighing machine was not available at the centre. On 14 May, 2008 Ms. Renuka Agrawal was astonished after looking the condition of children. Four year children were not able to stand on their feet. Ahmad Raza (2 1/2 year) 7.1 kg, Imran (3 1/2 year) 8.2 kg, Gulfam (4 year) 7 kg, Sahil Raza (4 month) 4 kg, Mohd. Imran (1 1/2 year) 3 kg, Noor Mohd. (1 year) 3.6 kg, Soni (3 year) 8kg, Shalmeen (3 year) 6.5kg, Sahiba (5 year) 7 kg, Shabeena Bano (4 month) 2.5 kg, Saheena parveen (2 year) 2.9 kg, Sahabuddin (2 year) 6.1kg, Mohd. Israq (2 year) 3.2 kg, Noukhta Hasan (6 month) 2.9 kg. All fourteen children's parents went to District Magistrate office and on next day this news was published in every daily newspaper and flashed on television channels and still 14 children did not get any assistance from the Government. Most of the weavers have Above Poverty Line (APL) cards. After looking the condition of Dhannipur village, Lohta and surrounding weavers area more than half weavers are starving or getting single meal in a day and children are malnourished. The entire scenarios declare this part of Varanasi as Kalahandi or Somaliya. Sahabuddin youngest among three children of Md. Idrish. Sahabuddin two year old weigh only 6.1 kg. Sahabuddin is permanent resident of village Dhannipur Kashi Vidyapith block Varanasi. Sahabuddin is struggling for his life in bed no 15, ward no. 13 in Shiv Prasad Gupta hospital. On 18 May, 2008 Sahabuddin was admitted in Shiv Prasad Gupt hospital but no Government facility is provided to him. On 25 May, 2008 trustee of PVCHR Mrs. Shruti Nagvanshi donated blood to save the life of Sahabuddin and now he is being cared by PVCHR. Sahabuddin's health started deteriorating when he was only one year old. He also has problem in his left eye. His mother cannot continue his medical treatment as she does not have money to pay to travel for primary health centre and it is 5 km away from her house. On 12 April, 2008 Sahabuddin was referred from PHC to Shiv Prasad Gupt hospital and from there to Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Hospital. On 14 May, 2008 Anganwadi worker Ms. Renuka Srivastava referred and identified him as Grade III malnourished child. Md. Idrish weaves on his neighbor Mohd. Munir's loom and earn Rs 50 a day which is irregular. Moinuddin, the eight year old son do design on sari and earn 150 Rupees a month. Md. Idrish has above poverty line (APL) card no. 253860 in which yearly income 800 Rupees is written. Several times he went to village head Mr. Lakkar Pahalwan for no avail. With this nominal earning Md. Idrish's family is getting one time food and they are in the debt of Rs 1000 and from six months they did not pay single penny to milkman. Due to nastiest economic condition Kahlilun Nisha Sahabuddin mother several time thought for committing sucide. Md. Idrish earlier weave clothes at his loom but due to plight of weaving industries and proper diet Md. Idris health start deteriorating and fan, utensil and bicycle was sold for his treatment. Md. Idrish is also taking care of his old mother and she is unable to work due to her old age and not good physical condition. Md. Idrish mother is entitled for old age pension. Md. Idrish is supposed to be paid a nominal sum of money as old-age pension. The pension is distributed to the aged persons in the state by the government so that they receive some financial help in the absence of any pension from former employment. This pension distribution is a venue of high degree of corruption. Several persons like Idrish's mother do not receive any pension even though they are entitled for it. The chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh Mr. Vinod Kumar Mittal on 24 December, 2004 sent D.O. letter to every district office that instructs-- hunger, malnutrition and starving committees should be formed in every village panchayat. The chairperson of the committee will be village head and secretary village panchayat and member will be Lekhpal.
