Dow Chemicals Quit India ! Banda Tatya Maharaj Karadkar Arrested ! Friends, The authorities who have become the slaves of the US multinational the notorious Dow Chemicals have once shamelessly come out in open support of Dow by arresting the warkaris and Banda Tatya Maharaj Karadkar. The Dow Chemicals which has no business to come into the sacred land of Jagadguru Tukaram Maharaj and Santshresth Dnyaneshwar Maharaj has been trying to resume its constrution at the site. The authorities who as per the law of land are supposed to protect the interests of the people are not only shamelessly protecting the interests Dow but are also fighting against the very people who have voted them to power ! The authorities are acting as if they are paid workers of Dow ! We condemn the act of authorities of arresting Banda Tatya Maharaj Karadkar and the warkaris and the women of Shinde and surrounding villages. We demand their immediate release. Considering the Dow Chemicals' past history of bribing Indian officials and age old habit of our authorities to take bribes and serve the outsiders, We demand the authorities at what price they have sold themselves to the US Multinational, the notorious Dow Chemicals. As we had reported earlier, on 17th September, 2008, as per the news reports, at 4 pm, a furious mob had burnt down the Tata Sumo vehicle of Dow Chemicals at Savardari on the Chakan - Shinde road. On this issue, police have arrested eight warkaris including Sachin Shinde who had nothing to do with incidence and were at their workplace when the incident occured. They are charged under 370, attempt to murder. Secondly, the authorities today issued gaon bandi on Banda Tatya Maharaj Karadkar and Shantaram Bapu Temghire (ex-Sarpanch, Shinde). Both have been banned from entering village. Shantaram Bapu Temghire who lives in the village and had been sarpanch of this village has now been restricted from entering his own village! Thirdly, the villagers and warkaris who had organised "Akhand Harinam Saptah" in which there is continuous reading of the sacred books and a Kirtan in the evening, have continued with the programme since 16th September. On an average, about thousand people from the Shinde and the surrounding villages attend the saptah daily in the evening. To protest the high handedness of the authorities, the warkaris including the women folk of Shinde and surrounding villages marched on Chakan Police Station today morning at 11 am. They held a massive demonstration in front of the Chakan Police Station. Police arrested around 200 warkaris including around 70 women. The demonstrators refused to take bail till the 8 warkaris including Sachin Shinde are released. The agitators have been arrested and tomorrow they will be produced before the court. Banda Tatya Maharaj Karadkar under whose leadership warkaris had destroyed the notorious Dow Chemicals' construction on25th July, 2008 was one of the accused including 43 innocent villagers. However, the authorities had no courage to arrest him. Today, Banda Tatya Maharaj Karadkar who had Kirtan at Narayangaon, (Junnar Tehsil, Dist.Pune) was coming to meet the warkaris who were arrested. On his way to Rajgurunagar, he arrested by Police and has been taken to Ghodegaon Police Station. There is tension amongst warkaris all over Maharashtra. The warkaris now have decided to intensify the agitation and they have demanded immediate release of Banda Tatya Maharaj Karadkar and the Warkaris. The struggle shall continue. The Dow Chemicals can buy our authorities, our authorities can sell themselves and become stooges of the US multinationals but the warkaris and peasants of Maharashtra shall never allow the notorious Dow Chemicals to set its foot on the sacred land of Jagadgur Tukaram Maharaj and Santshreshtha Dnyaneshwar Maharaj.
