Since the joke comes from the dominant version (I cant see any subversion in
the images here), we should look at the history of the dominant version of
representation.



When we talk about the dominant modes of production of caste images, I think
it is useless to try to prove/disprove an argument by searching for the
"real" identity of the people, as Ratheesh says. I am in agreement with
Jenny (and Afthab).


Also, it may be true that political correctness often sound hypocritical.
But the contempt for political correctness emerges, I think, at a time "new"
voices are asserted. Think of the sexist jokes that are heard among male
students in campuses, like "Don't look at her like that, she will complain
to the sexual harassment cell".
