The Zapatista Army of National Liberation is particularly anti-patriarchal--there is constant and genuine emphasis on equal roles (both in leadership and household tasks) for women and men in the resistance army -- though it must be added that the EZLN is perhaps mostly a symbolic resistance army and that it is still ordinary women (the ones who are not armed fighters) who have suffered most in the military crack-down on communities sympathizing with the Zapatistas..
