years ago in a party class one of my comrades told me: "anaayal meesha venam" as a cleanshaven lad i looked at myself self critically and thought/laughed a lot "will some one able to become a communist without a moustache /beard masculinity???? " thanks to prakash karat the "moustache masculinity" of comrades seems to be not in great demand and unfortunaltley taken and carried forwrd by hindutva anti-social people... while in kerala a cleanshaven face is alwys equated with "feminity" and in most cases mocked at... things are changing thanks to the neo-liberal world. those who wants to see the world as static would blame "pub culture" western culture" and kill and molest people to save "culture".. such normative masculine cultures wants a closed world where ideological dominations can be preserved in the name of "culture" from comrades to sreeram senas the story of moustache/beard opens the world of caste partriachy
