Again, I wish to ask a question to Maya in relation to her statement (seemingly half cynical, if I am permitted to take that freedom to comment): "Having autonomy over own bodies and not being labelled as victims - are meant for *already liberated women*.( educated/employed//upper-middle class/ideological/political/social -individual women and groups of them)".. You were suggesting that uneducated and poor women claiming such dignified autonomy depends only on your(our) condescension? My answer to this question will certainly be in the negative. Besides, how better is the state of the so called "liberated"middle class women ?How better is the status of the upper caste women as citizens, while the majority of this section are confined to secluded living as female subjects of the Brahmanical patriarchy? Therefore, a commonality of issues concerning all women could be noticed, when we come to the question of liberation, whatever be the differences in the degree and nature of their sufferings. This qualifies them to get rallied along with other marginalized sections, including dalits and the working class. Regards, Venu.
