Dear friend, As you are aware, C. Saratchandran, one of the most prominent film activists in South India passed away on April, 1, 2010. This incident has given a major shock, grief and a vaccum to all friends, supporters and his family. Friends of Sarat have already initiated different meetings to remember him in different parts of the country. The important films he made are being shown around in different parts of the country as Saratchandran Retrospective. Activists are also trying to initiate Saratchandran Memorial Film Archives in different parts so that activists and people’s movements can get access to socially relevant films.
Sarat has been active in the production, screenings, facilitating groups and movements through films for the last two and a half decades. The role he played cannot be duplicated. So many friends felt that there is a need to document his role as book through writings of those who understood his role as a significant media activist. In view of his association with you in the past, we would like to request you to contribute an article (however small or big) towards this publication. We request you to send the article within a week. An early response to this article will be highly appreciated.
