Rebel Youth Dreams, the cultural event to pay tribute to avant- garde filmmaker John Abraham, will be held at the Ernakulam Town Hall on July 2. The highlight of the programme will be the screening of short films, documentaries and plays that will focus on the narratives of different plights of human life and the rebellious spirit in man to fight back. The list of documentaries that will be screened include ‘Ningalude Viswasthan John’ directed by Sarath, ‘Vettayadappedunnavar’ (Shaji Pattanam) and ‘Avvabeee’. The short films including ‘Panthibhojanam’, ‘Typewriter’, ‘90 centimetre’, ‘Cross Road’, ‘Diary of a painter’, and animation films like ‘Momentary Montague’ and ‘Morning Sunday’ will also be screened. The children’s movie, ‘Oliche Kandey’ and ‘Paduka Pattukara’ - a monologue on music director Baburaj - and the play ‘Kattumaakkaan Ippol Karayunnilla’ directed by Babu Aluva will also be featured on the occasion. The play presented by the students of Kalady Sanskrit university, ‘Iruvattam Manavatty’, will add colour to the event. Ghazal singer Umbayi will inaugurate the function. C M Dineshmani MLA, Mayor Mercy Williams, directors Lenin Rajendran and M G Sasi will take part in the event.
