Programs, National Program Coordinator - IHRE and an Executive Assistant to
the ED and Deputy ED :

Dear Colleagues,

People's Watch currently has an opening for the newly created position of
Deputy Executive Director, and I would greatly appreciate your input on
candidates or sources for this key role. Below I've provided details about
the organization and the position we wish to fill.

For over 14 years, People's Watch has fought for the protection and
promotion of human rights in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Today,
it pursues a holistic approach to championing human rights, employing
diverse strategies including pursuing legal remedies on behalf of victims,
rehabilitating victims of rights abuses, strengthening national and state
human rights bodies, promoting human rights education, and building a
citizen's movement for human rights. People's Watch's vision: a society free
from human rights violations and discrimination to be built through
cultivating a human rights culture and building a participatory democracy.

People's Watch now works in 22 states in India and its work touches the
lives of more than 2000 people annually. With steady growth over the past
five years and a staff of 154, People's Watch is seeking to consolidate its
growth, deepen its impact and lay the foundations for the sustainability of
the organization for the next decade.

Because of its growth, People's Watch seeks a dynamic and experienced Deputy
Executive Director to further develop and manage the organization, including
supervising programmatic, administrative and financial functions. The Deputy
ED will have responsibility for serving as the day-to-day leader of the
organization, guiding the execution of programs and operations, and building
the capacity of organization and staff. The successful candidate will be a
relentless, action-oriented leader, wise decision-maker and outstanding
manager, with a proven track record of building relationships, leading a
complex social organization to achieve outstanding results and building
organizational and staff capacity. The Deputy ED will have at least 10 years
experience in human rights, development or a related field, with at least 5
years in a senior management role. The organization is also advertising for
a National Director Programs, a National Program Co-coordinator for its IHRE
and an Executive Assistant to the ED and Dep ED.

This position provides an exceptional opportunity for an individual with
superior leadership, management, communications and organizational
development skills to make an important contribution toward the realization
of human rights in India. Do feel free to email me any suggestions for
