The CPN- Maoist has pointed out that there are two factors are responsible
for the UCPN (Maoist)’s election results.

A political report presented by the Chairman of the CPN-Maoist, Mohan
Baidya, in the ongoing extended meeting of the central committee of the
party stated that the UCPN (Maoist) actually lost the election. The report
states that there are two reasons behind the UCPN (Maoist) defeat.

CPN-M first pointed out that the votes were not in UCPN (M)’s favor because
the party has been arrogant and has acted against the people. Secondly,
CPN-M said, that the party split was responsible for the defeat. The Mohan
Baidya-led party expressed suspicion over the party’s allegations about the
vote-rigging, suggesting that it could be a ploy to gain bargaining power.

Stressing on the unity among communist parties, the report said that it was
necessary to constitute a new revolutionary communist centre by
incorporating all revolutionary communists outside the party.

In the event, Chairman Baidya said if UCPN (M) had boycotted the elections,
there would have been possibilities for the two parties to work together.

The central committee meeting of the party began on 8 December and will
conclude on Thursday.
