There are two major `fears’ of the Indian mainstream upper caste psyche which rules this country: One is Islamophobia and the other is homophobia. To deal with these two phobias, they have introduced two draconian laws: 1. Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) imprisoning thousands of innocent Muslims for years without trial and 2. Section 377 of IPC criminalizing love between same sex. These two phobias have shaped ordinary mainstream persons into distorted personalities. The challenge before the activists who work on issues related to marginalized identities today is to empathise and support the issues of other marginalized identities.
