I'm relying primarily on my friends, supporters, audiences and other like-minded people for their solidarity and support. As it is a rather limited circle, it would help tremendously if you forward this to at least 10 people and as many relevant groups/ mailing lists as possible. Work has already commenced on the basis of the contributions so far. About 70% of the footage has been indexed, digitised and backed up (18 TB of data so far: 1 original + 2 backups = 54 TB of data). Sorting, previews and final rough cuts are under way for 2 of the 4 (possibly 5) films. The material has been filmed between early 2007- early 2013, ie, a span of 6 years. While we have managed to somehow continue and wrap up these years of filming without any funding or grant, the films have been stuck in postproduction due to lack of money. It was never a factor in the past, as my low-cost film-making model involved much labour from me - as researcher, interviewer, director/ producer, 2nd cameraman, sound recordist etc on location and during long work shifts for months of editing, sound mixing, visual Fx, subtitling, DVD authoring, followed by direct distribution. Following a spine/ back problem that surfaced during the year-long 2007 Gujarat shoot and became worse due to years of filming in rough terrains defying medical advice, the doctors have now advised me to avoid long sedentary hours (means I can't do my own editing or postProd). I must hire experienced professionals. I must admit I balked when I first realised the kind of fees that's the present norm for even the somewhat experienced editors and assistants etc. but then, if they have to pay monthly rents of 25K, I can understand they need to earn 90-100K. But this is a mountain to climb - and it can not be done without your support. For abandoning the films isn't an option (yet). Even if I say so, it is a rather valuable archive of primary material filmed in fairly tough conditions, mindful of the hostile state machinery...
