New complaint over Irani's faulty education details

New Delhi:

In fresh trouble for HRD minister Smriti Irani, a complaint seeking
against her was filed in a trial court on Monday for allegedly
misrepresenting facts in her election affidavit. The complaint filed
by Ahmer Khan, who claims to be a freelance writer, alleges that Irani
not only lied on oath about her educational qualification but also
lied about other facts such as her assets when she filed her
nomination papers for contesting election. The petition was filed
before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Akash Jain who will
hear the matter on Wednesday.

The petition states that Irani, in her affidavit filed for the 2004
Lok Sabha elections, declared herself to be a 1996 batch B.A. pass out
from Delhi University, but in 2014's affidavit for the Lok Sabha
elections, she states herself to be a 1994 batch B.Com Part 1 from
Delhi University. "It is evident from the contents of the affidavits
filed by Irani that at best, only one of the depositions by her on
oath in respect of her educational qualifications is correct," states
the petition, adding that Irani also gave lied on oath about her
assets.
