Rabindranath Tagore was not a `Bong’. He was a Bengali. The confused neo-liberal Bengalis may accept the term `Bong’ as their identity, without realising that the implication of the word is not just a reduction of the word, but also a reduction of his/her cultural identity. If you can call a Bengali `Bong’ then the Hindi speaking people should be called `Honds’.
