In his tweets, Roy said “Syama Prasad Mookerjee wrote in his diary on 10/1/1946: “The Hindu-Muslim problem won’t b solved without a Civil War”. So much like Lincoln! After this, he invited controversy and received sharp reactions on social media. “The President must remove Tathagata Roy from the gubernatorial post of Tripura for his dangerous tweet. Courts also could suo-motu register a civil and criminal case against him,” Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) state Secretary Bijan Dhar told the media. Later in series of tweets, Roy started justifying his tweet that he was just quoting not advocating the civil war. Tripura Congress Vice President Tapas Dey said that after such a dangerous tweet, Roy should be removed once. “It is now once again clear that Roy is acting as a RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) activist, not a Governor or a custodian of the Indian Constitution,” Dey told media. Governor Roy, who is presently in Shillong, told news agency IANS: “I have tweeted the quote of Syama Prasad Mookerjee. If people do not understand, what I would do. “Anyone can also demand my resignation, I have nothing to do in this regard.” However, Roy is known for his controversial remarks on social media. Recently in March he stated “One exception (to Hindus running away) was Gujarat, 2002. I’m glad you appreciate what the Hindus did then, as per the Indian Express report.
