Dear B KARTHIK NAVAYAN,

While we all celebrate *Mother’s Day* with love and thankfulness, not all
mothers will have a reason to celebrate. Sadly, some mothers will be
waiting for their BRAVE children to come back home.

Kamlesh Devi, has been waiting since six months to see her son
Chandrashekhar Azad ‘Ravan’, a prominent Dalit rights activist. In this
video, she appeals to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath for
the release of her son. More than 100,000 people have already supported
Kamlesh Devi’s plea. B KARTHIK NAVAYAN, *now it is your turn.

*REUNITE THIS MOTHER WITH HER SON!*

Chandrashekhar is the founder of the “*BHIM ARMY*”, a Dalit rights
organisation that campaigns against caste based discrimination and
violence, and runs around 300 schools for underprivileged children in Uttar
Pradesh.

Chandrashekhar has been held in administrative detention since 3 November
2017 under the National Security Act (NSA). The Allahabad High Court, on 26
April 2018, refused to grant bail to Chandrashekhar. Following this, the
Uttar Pradesh government extended the NSA detention till August 2018, *although
no charges have been filed against him.* Under the NSA, Chandrashekar Azad
may be detained for up to 12 months without charge or trial. Administrative
detention laws such as the NSA have often been used to detain individuals
on vague grounds, ignoring criminal justice safeguards. The Supreme Court
of India has described the system of administrative detention as *“lawless”*
.

Over the past six months, Chandrashekhar and his mother, Kamlesh Devi, have
shown bravery in the face of adversity. *More than a 100,000 people have
already signed the petition!*

So B KARTHIK NAVAYAN, will you stand up and help reunite a mother with her
son this Mother’s Day?
*STAND WITH KAMLESH DEVI TO DEMAND THE RELEASE OF HER SON.*
