And here is a chance for the left and democratic forces to claim that they are the defenders of democracy, secularism, Indian Constitution and women's rights. But for that, the mass organisations of the left all over India should wake up. They will. By that time, the damage would have been done. But I must certainly appreciate the small moves they are doing even on the ground. The challenge is also for the autonomous women's movement in India. It has to be seen as an `organised attack on women's identity' by the Sangh Parivar and the allied forces in comparison with the organised attacks on the Muslims in Gujarat or Christians in Kandhamal. This is the reason why Ambedkar burnt Manusmriti, which is still ruling us. And that is the reason why we should unitedly raise two slogans before us: 1. Persecuted people of India Unite ! 2. Impure people of India unite ! (Both are same within the interpretations of Brahminical consciousness)
