I. Political outfits - regardless of colours, who can fire up and mobilise people under their banners ready to take up arms - to kill and be killed if required, do have and quite often derive significant advantages in a situation of armed conflict engulfing the nation.
In Russia, the Bolsheviks took up arms in defence of the Kerensky regime against the advancing armed onslaught by its own commander-in-chief, General Kornilov, with the objective of overthrowing it. In the event, the armed assault got dissipated even before reaching Petrograd and, thus, rejuvenated Bolsheviks would take upon themselves and successfully accomplish the task of ousting the Kerensky regime in less than two months thereafter. Even in China the Communist Party gained in strength via fighting, together with the Nationalists, the occupying Japanese forces and after the defeat of Japan would be able to eventually vanquish the Nationalists in course of a protracted civil war. II. In Ukraine, the ultra-nationalists, however, despite having a dedicated and highly motivated band of militant followers, do not appear to be anywhere near taking over power. As of now, they remain rather miniscule; the hype surrounding them is only to rationalise the utterly reprehensible Russian invasion. Moreover, Zelensky is just no Kerensky. He has shown his mettle in ample measure and established himself as the leader of the resistance almost miraculously foiling the sustained massive and brutal attempts of the much superior invading forces to occupy any major population centre, let alone the highly coveted capital, even after thirty-five days since the beginning of the invasion. Moreover, if peace is eventually restored in Ukraine - under the Ukrainian flag, the government there - given the mind-boggling scale of devastation, would be critically dependent on the goodwill and cooperation of the EU and the US. That's yet another factor that would, definitely, count. Nonetheless, such a possibility cannot just be dismissed out of hand.
