Yes!
Had these regimes shown even a fraction of the current concern for the
lives of ordinary Indian Muslims, things probably would have not come to
this sorry state.
But, alas...!

Like (so many of the) ordinary Muslims, they also get worked up enough only
when religious feeling is hurt, not when ordinary mortals are divested of
life and dignity.
Ditto is the case with the ordinary Hindus too. The Yogi government, under
the supervision of which India got to earn the unique distinction of being
the only country on this planet to have the bodies of its people dying of
the pandemic floating in rivers, could nevertheless - on the back of its
"80:20" campaign, not only came back to power with a handsome majority but
also with a hike in vote-share as compared to the preceding state poll!

However, this episode shows up a soft underbelly of the regime.
That needs be duly factored in, not loftily ignored. Especially when things
look too desperate.
