It is the MacTex distribution from http://www.tug.org/mactex, which
is presumably the TeX Live 2007 distribution of TeX.
Back to gregorio though, I managed to locate (I think) where to add
the \punctum in opustex-write.c However there is something odd
happening (and perhaps I do not understand the code quite well
enough). The notes get printed on line 829, but when I try and check
before it is printed to see if I need to print "\\punctum" first, I
check the type and shape. All of the puncta at this point seem to be
returning the type & shape of punctuminclinatum.
Also, and I do not know if the above is related, but I noticed that
many of the syllables were missing letters from the optustex output.
For example, using Populus Sion, I get:
\musicinitial{}{P}%
\sgn {}{\'o }{} Nc cd\egn
\sgn {}{u}{} c\egn
\sgn {}{u}{s} c\egn
\spatium
\sgn {}{i}{} cd\egn
\sgn {}{o}{n,} cbc\augmentum d\egn
As you can see, there are letters missing, namely the first letter of
the syllable.
