What was exactly the problem? Would a chmod 644 on all files fix it? Anyway, did you experience bugs with the whole TeX system at the installation of gregorio, like nothing compiling except gregorio scores? If you did (like I did) I found a (quite dirty) method to fix it, it is written at the end of http://home.gna.org/gregorio/installation-linux . What was the version of Mandriva?
