I think you can refer to this page (that you have translated ;)) :

paragraph "Modifying the vertical spacing". A \spaceabovlines=2mm should 
do it. If not, please tell me!

Do you think that the default space is not enough? I modified it 
recently, so maybe I shortened it too much...

Anyway, if you call \updateadditionalspaces{3}{3}, you just have to call 
\updateleftbox after, for the clef to be at the good height.
